WE 111C TRANSFORMER BOX (RACK-L)

The A-VOID.AUDIO‍ ‍WE 111C Transformer box is a passive line level device built by hand using the finest components and a matched pair of vintage Western Electric 111c transformers for optimal use in balanced stereo or mono applications.

Western Electric REP 111c transformers were originally designed for use in phone transmission lines and manufactured from the 1930’s to the 1980’s. We were able to find a surplus of matched pairs in fantastic condition for use in this device.

They are renowned for their flat frequency response and “magic box” qualities.

The result running a source (mix or bus) through these transformers adds a bit of depth, weight, a sweetened high end and an enhanced image. Hit with a high signal levels, they saturate in a subtle and elegant way.

The finish is “double black grip tape”. The metal work is powder coated matte black then painted in matte black enamel. The black enamel will relic/vintagize over time and use.

  • XLR in and out.

  • Wired for 600:600ohms and 150:600ohms via the 1:1 / 2:1 switch.

  • Hard bypass via switch.

  • Output ground-lift switch.

  • 2U tall.

Repairs on this unit are very simple and safe for anyone with a little soldering experience and the diagram included in the manual. If you don’t have a tech that you like to use, please contact us via the website contact form and we’ll put you in touch with a tech to have the repair, in or out of warranty.
